To ensure the safe operation of elevators, the gaps between the landing doors and car doors and surrounding structures such as door frames, door lintels, etc. should be minimized as long as they do not hinder the movement of the doors. The standard requires that the gap around the passenger elevator doors should not exceed 6mm, and the gap around the freight elevator doors should not exceed 8mm. When manually pulling open the door leaf on both sides at the lower part of the middle level door, the gap should not exceed 30mm. From a safety perspective, the distance between the elevator car door sill and the floor door sill should not exceed 35mm. The distance between the car door sill and the corresponding shaft wall shall not exceed 150mm.

The position of the elevator door knife and door lock wheel should be adjusted accurately. During elevator operation, when the door knife passes through the door lock wheel, the distance between the door knife and the door lock wheel on both sides should be equal; When passing through the landing station, the distance between the door blade and the landing door sill, as well as the distance between the door lock wheel and the car door sill, should be 5-10mm. If the distance is too small, it is easy to rub against the ground, while if it is too large, it will affect the depth of engagement of the door knife on the door lock wheel. Generally, the door knife should be in contact with the door lock wheel at all thicknesses during operation.
