COP stands for Car Operating Panel. The COP is the control panel located inside the elevator car that allows passengers to select the desired floor, open and close the doors, and control other functions of the elevator. The COP typically consists of a display panel, floor buttons, door control buttons, and emergency buttons. The display panel shows the current floor, direction of travel, and other information about the elevator’s operation. The COP is connected to the elevator control system, which controls the operation of the elevator. When a passenger presses a button on the COP, the control system receives the signal and initiates the appropriate action. For example, if a passenger presses the door open button on the COP, the control system will signal the elevator doors to open.

In the elevator cabin, how the passengers know the accurate floor they are in? That will depend on the cabin display board. When a series of instructions are issued, car top board will input the signal to the C.O.P, and then the display board will receive the signal and instruction. Afer that, the detailed floor will be shown in the display board. Passengers can clearly know the current floor. 

Here is common failures and coping strategies in display board:

● Power Problems: A common reason why a display does not work is a power supply problem. If the display does not receive proper power, it will not display information properly.

Solution: Check the display's power circuit, confirm that the power outlet, power cord, and power adapter are working properly, and replace damaged parts if necessary.

● Display hardware failure: The display hardware components, such as the LCD, backlight, or display driver board, may fail.

Solution: Check the display hardware components. If they are damaged or aged, replace them with new ones.

● Connection line problem: If the connection line between the display screen and the elevator control system is broken, loose or corroded, the display screen may not receive the control signal.

Solution strategy: Check the integrity of the connection line, ensure that all connections are firm and free of corrosion, and repair or replace the line if necessary.

● Control panel failure: If the control panel in the elevator control system fails, it may not be able to send the correct signal to the display.

Solution strategy: Check the working status of the control panel and test whether the signal output is normal. If there is a problem, replace or repair the control panel.
