Why KONE Elevator Traction Machine can be Shaken Easily?
Many elevator installers and maintenance person have noticed that the disc-type motors of KONE elevators are not completely fixed. The base of the small machine room elevators has no fixing bolts, and elevators without machine room are only radially fixed at the top and bottom. As a result, it is obvious that many of these disc-type motors can be seen shaking during operation.

The original intention of KONE design was that "this motor is flexibly installed. The installation design aims to reduce the impact of force by shaking during operation. However, during process of use, this axial motor bearing is prone to failure, which is a common problem. The main reason is that the rotating disk and the stationary disk of this motor have a huge force. This force is borne by the bearing, so the bearing broke easily. While traditional radial motors have forces that are distributed around a circle and cancel each other out, the axial bearing's forces cancel each other out.
In fact, Many projects of KONE elevators have experienced abnormal vibrations and very strange noises during operationIn,most cases are caused by damaged bearings. Moreover, due to the flexible design of KONE, the traction machine is prone to shaking,Even the structural design of elevators with machine rooms is derived from that of no machime room elevators. After the traction wheel outputs, several low-speed economy-type elevators don't have a guide wheel to disperse the torsion force caused by the twisting of the steel wire rope. Therefore, not only are the bearings prone to failure, but the externally rotating design of the traction wheel is also more likely to wear and suffer from uneven force distribution, resulting in a shorter using time of the traction wheel. Moreover, the traction wheel of KONE disc-type motors is integrated with the outer rotor, so the replacement cost is definitely higher than that of independent traction wheels, and the difficulty of replacement has also greatly increased.
