The Importance of the Escalator Brush

The main function of the escalator brush is to prevent passengers' clothes, shoelaces or other items from being caught in the gap between the steps and the apron. This gap may generate a clamping force when the escalator is running, posing a safety hazard to passengers. The presence of the brush can prevent these items from entering the gap, thereby avoiding the occurrence of pinching accidents.

The installation of escalator brushes needs to meet certain standards and requirements to ensure their safety and effectiveness. These standards and requirements may include:

•The installation position of the brush should meet the national standard requirements for the size of the steps and other positions.

•The bend of the brush should be processed to be the same as the curvature of the side plate, and the distance from the steps should meet the national standard requirements.

•The ends of each brush should be smoothed and the brush plug should be added.

Sufficient strength should be ensured during installation, and the total length from the top of the brush to the escalator side plate should meet the standard.

•The brush base and brush should reach a standard tilt angle.

•In addition, the new national standard "Safety Specifications for the Manufacturing and Installation of Escalators and Moving Walkways" and the elevator inspection rules also make specific provisions for escalator safety brushes, such as the amount of protrusion, applied force, horizontal protrusion and other parameters have clear range requirements.

As an important safety facility of escalators, escalator brushes have multiple functions such as anti-pinch, reminder and warning. Its types, structures, installation requirements and application scenarios all reflect its importance and necessity.
