2024-11-25
The handrail is a common vulnerable part in escalators. The process of installing the escalator handrail requires certain professional knowledge and operating skills. The following is a basic installation step:
1. Preparation:
Make sure the escalator has stopped running and necessary safety measures have been taken, such as disconnecting the power supply and hanging warning signs.
Prepare the necessary tools and materials, such as screwdrivers, wrenches, new handrails, fixings, etc.

2. Remove the old handrail:
Use appropriate tools to remove the fixings of the old handrail, such as screws, clips, etc.
Carefully remove the old handrail from the escalator to avoid damaging other parts of the escalator.
3. Install the new handrail:
Choose the appropriate new handrail according to the model and specifications of the escalator.
Fix one end of the new handrail to one end of the escalator, usually using screws or clips.
Slowly unfold the new handrail along the escalator track, making sure it fits tightly against the escalator track.
During the unfolding process, check whether the handrail is flat and has no twists or knots.
Fix the other end of the new handrail to the other end of the escalator, also using appropriate fasteners.

4. Adjust the handrail:
Make sure the handrail is in the same direction as the escalator and runs smoothly.
Adjust the tensioner in the handrail as needed to ensure the handrail has the proper tension.
Check if there is any friction or interference between the handrail and other parts of the escalator and make any necessary adjustments.
5. Test and inspection:
Start the escalator for running test while ensuring safety.
Observe the running of the handrail to ensure that it runs smoothly without jamming or abnormal noise.
Check whether the fixings of the handrail are firm and reliable without loosening or falling off.
6.Cleaning and finishing work:
Clean up debris and dust from escalators and handrails.
Restore used tools and materials to their original places and keep the work area clean.
