The Composition of the Elevator Counterweight System

How the Elevator Counterweight System Works?

1. Balance the weight of the car: The weight of the elevator counterweight device is usually calculated based on the car's own weight and 40%-50% of the rated load, so that the sum of the car and 40%~50% of its rated weight is balanced with the counterweight, thereby reducing the power loss of the motor.

2. Reduce traction: When the elevator load and counterweight match, the traction between the wire rope and the sheave can be reduced, extending the life of the wire rope.

3. Improve operating efficiency: The design of the elevator counterweight system needs to consider factors such as the elevator's rated load, operating speed, and shaft height. Reasonable counterweight weight and position can improve the elevator's stability and operating efficiency.

Safety Requirements for Elevator Counterweight Systems

1. Prevent the elevator counterweight blocks from shifting: Ensure they are securely fastened if the counterweight consists of individual blocks.

2. Install protective devices: The pulleys and sprockets installed on the elevator counterweight should be equipped with protective devices as required.

3. Add an anti-jump device: When the rated speed of the elevator is greater than 3.5m/s, the compensation device should also be equipped with an anti-jump device.

Through these measures, the elevator counterweight system can effectively maintain the balance of the elevator and ensure the safe operation of the elevator.
