Types of Elevator Display Boards
Seven-Segment Displays:
Traditionally, seven-segment displays were used in elevators, consisting of simple numeric indicators made from LED or LCD segments that light up to form numbers. These are still common in older or more basic elevator systems and are used to display floor numbers or basic status messages. Though functional, they are limited in the amount of information they can convey.
Dot Matrix Displays:
Dot matrix displays use a grid of lights or LEDs to form numbers, letters, or even simple graphics. These displays offer more flexibility than seven-segment displays and can show more detailed messages, such as short text or symbols. They are still commonly used in elevators due to their durability and ability to show multiple types of information.
LCD/LED Displays:
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and LED (Light Emitting Diode) screens are becoming increasingly popular in modern elevator systems. These displays can show a wide range of detailed information, from the current floor and direction to more sophisticated messages, such as multimedia content or building updates. They are capable of displaying high-resolution images and text, making them ideal for showing a combination of elevator status information and advertisements.
Touchscreen Displays:
In high-end or state-of-the-art elevator systems, touchscreen display boards are becoming more common. These allow passengers to interact directly with the display, selecting floors or other options through a touch interface. Touchscreen displays provide a sleek, modern appearance and can be customized for various applications, including accessibility features for passengers with disabilities.
